Meet Lucy

Building a Future in Tech

Launching a career in technology requires dedication to continuously learn and evolve your skills. Read on to hear about Lucy’s journey and how she collaborated with our organization’s talented professionals. “From an early age, my parents taught me to observe and listen. Their advice was simple: learn from others’ experiences and mistakes so you can avoid some of your own. That mindset continues to guide how I learn, make decisions, and collaborate.

When it was time to choose a career, I didn’t have everything figured out. I explored different options, but real responsibilities helped me see a natural fit with Business Administration. The structure, process of thinking, and focus on objectives matched my strengths. I learned that not having all the answers is simply part of the journey.

My entry into technology wasn’t planned. A university friend shared a trainee style program designed to support young people starting their careers. I joined and began in SAP Finance consulting. There, I discovered a passion for processes, analysis, and understanding how systems support business needs. Over time, my professional path expanded through consulting roles in finance and evolved into operations and end to end service delivery, giving me a holistic understanding of how technology enables business performance.

Later, I continued consulting at another company, while also becoming a mother—near the end of my consulting stage and as I began moving into operations. Balancing both taught me discipline, clearer priorities, and the importance of strong support networks. I learned that teamwork at home is as essential as teamwork at work.

From consulting, I moved into IT operations management, leading service delivery. Those challenges strengthened my execution, my decision making under pressure, and my ability to bring people together around a shared goal.

Three and a half years ago, I joined Nestlé, starting in IT Finance and later moving into IT Performance with regional scope across North America and Latin America. What stands out for me is the quality of professionals, the focus on continuous learning, and a culture that takes career planning seriously—connecting growth to direction, timeframes, and development opportunities.

Today, I translate global objectives into local, actionable priorities, connecting IT, business, and people so that teams understand how their work contributes to a bigger goal. For me, leadership is not about control; it is about enabling others to execute effectively and making the strategy clear for everyone.

When you deposit value, that value comes back over time. This belief shapes how I collaborate, learn, and lead, because investing in people delivers the most powerful return of all!
