Pet Adoption Perks with Purpose: Brittany & Ollie’s Story

This benefit provides reimbursement to help offset the costs and fees associated with adopting a pet. It’s one of the ways we support meaningful life moments for our team members.
For me, the pet adoption benefit became part of something especially personal, adopting my dog, Ollie. As someone who works in employment branding, I get to see our culture come to life every day; but this was a special moment to experience it firsthand.
About a year ago, my family decided to start looking for a dog to join our family. Our cat had passed away the previous year, and we knew it was time to welcome a pet to our home again. With the kids getting older, we felt they were ready for the responsibility that comes with a dog. But bringing a new pet into your home isn’t free, even when adopting from a shelter or rescue. Knowing that my employer could help offset some of those costs helped us to confidently move forward.
Using Purina’s Petfinder site made it easy to look for just the right fit for our family. We looked at lots of dogs that fit our wish list—a larger dog, young but not a puppy, good with kids, and already potty trained. We hit the jackpot when we ultimately came across Ollie, and he easily transitioned into our home and lives.
Utilizing the pet adoption benefit was easy. I submitted the adoption paperwork and vet records through our online system and received my reimbursement. The benefit can be used with shelters, breeders, rescues, and more! We also have discounts on pet insurance and pet food, and some of our locations let you bring your pet to work with you—even more ways the company supports us beyond the office walls.
Ollie has made a huge impact on my family’s lives. He’s made my kids more confident in their abilities. He’s helped my husband and I increase our step count every day. And he’s filled a spot in our hearts we didn’t know needed to be filled. We even celebrated Ollie’s birthday with custom shirts with his picture all over them. I’m so thankful that Nestlé’s support helped make this possible for me and so many others.
