From Chemist to Lab Supervisor: Kyndra's Path at Nestlé Purina

Meet one of our NPAL Supervisors, Kyndra, who helps lead our organic chemistry team! Her journey with us is a powerful example of what’s possible here through passion and performance.
What initially attracted you to Purina and the NPAL team?
Nestlé Purina is recognized locally as a leading company with an excellent reputation. As someone who loves animals and owns pets, I am also attracted to their strong commitment to pet care.
Tell me about your career path at Nestlé Purina.
I began as a Chemist at Nestlé Purina in May 2023 after applying for a leadership role. In my interview, the team shared information about plans to expand the organic lab and mentioned that there would be a growing need for additional people leaders in the future. Through demonstrating leadership and enhancing my communication skills, I was promoted to be a people leader.
What makes NPAL unique compared to other labs you’ve worked in?
NPAL cultivates an environment that promotes ongoing professional development. Analysts are encouraged to identify relevant courses or seminars that enhance ways of working and develop us as associates. The organization demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and safety. At NPAL, onboarding commences with comprehensive safety training. Quarterly safety audits are conducted, and all employees–including leadership–are encouraged to submit safety observations on a quarterly basis to maintain a strong focus on workplace safety.
How has the culture at Purina supported your growth and leadership transition?
Like NPAL, Purina offers learnings and training to continue advancing your knowledge and leadership skills. I have completed various courses at Purina, including Mental Health First Aid. Additionally, I am arranging sessions with our Technology Engagement Center to further develop my skills in Power Automate and AI.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to move into a leadership role at Purina?
Aspiring leaders should trust Purina's robust hiring process, follow your development plan, demonstrate key skills, and advancement will come in time.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey since joining the NPAL?
The most rewarding aspect of my time at Purina has been helping others plan their careers and seeing them achieve their goals. As a leader, I work with the analysts on my team to create their development plan and then help them progress toward filling their objectives.
