Position Summary: The successful candidate will lead and support the development of specific Science and Technology (S&T) Building Blocks enabling the development of innovative new plant and dairy based products as defined in the strategic roadmaps. The key focus area will be on functionalities and properties of proteins, modification thereof by means of processing and their usage in food products. The selected candidate will also provide scientific knowledge in other food related scientific areas to support directly ideation processes, product development and manufacturing, aiming at product and process mastership. Besides category specific developments collaboration with other Nestle experts in the same science area are part of this function.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support science-based innovation for the business:
- Monitor and leverage Science &Technology from internal and external sources

- Generate and document knowledge on food science
- Insource and apply knowledge from external partnerships
- Apply scientific knowledge to support product development and manufacturing, aiming at product and process
mastership
- Leverage scientific expertise within Research &Development community (Nestle Research Center, R&D Expert Networks) for the category and support building of cross category S&T roadmaps

-Ensure scientific excellence through exposure to other experts, associations, screening IP and specific training
- Ability to structure and perform S&T projects without detailed supervision
- Ability to present to upper management at S&T days or at external forums

Qualifications

Experience and Education Requirements

Education:

BS+MS Food Science

PhD Food Science preferred

Thesis in the area of dairy or plant proteins, topic about their application in food would be preferred; deep knowledge about their functional properties and interaction with other components in a food matrix and how to influence them through processing.

8-10 years practical experience in an R&D environment (industry)

You also have to demonstrate your ability to focus on what matters and make choices; to deliver against clear, actionable and measurable priorities, and to work with a lean and nimble mindset. Finally, you will have to demonstrate your ability to challenge the status quo and to help us change the way people view nutritional therapies in health management, with a can-do attitude and passion.
