Our Veterinary Sales Managers are crucial to Nestlé Purina’s success. 1. What does a typical day/week look like in this position?
On our Veterinary sales team, no two days are alike. The primary objective is to grow sales for our Pro Plan Veterinary Diets and Supplements within assigned veterinary clinics. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect:
- Field Work: Most of the week (Monday to Thursday) is spent in the field, engaging with clients and prospects in veterinary clinics, while Fridays are typically reserved for administrative tasks from home.
- Activities: Daily activities include standard clinic visits, in-hospital training sessions, attending veterinary conferences, and collaborating with distributors on unique projects.
- Resources: Team members have access to marketing resources and budgets to leverage in their territories, enhancing their ability to connect with and nurture relationships with clients.

3. What does training look like?
- Job Training: Focus on nutrition, routing, and operational methods.
- Sales Training: Equip new hires with essential sales strategies.
- Personal Development: Tailored development roadmaps are provided, guiding new hires through a 6-to-8-week onboarding plan.
Additionally, new hires will be paired with experienced veterinarians and senior sales managers for hands-on learning and coaching.
4. What does internal and external collaboration look like?
Collaboration is key in this role:
- Internal Teams: Work closely with Veterinary Communication Managers, Marketing, Supply Chain, Business Analysts, and Financial Co-Pilots.
- External Partners: Veterinary Clinics.
5. What does success look like?
- Sales Growth: The primary focus is on growing sales and building relationships with all clinics in the territory. This is done through nurturing relationships with existing clinics, as well as establishing additional partnerships.
- Performance Metrics: Success is measured against sales goals and the quality of relationships built, ensuring the approach is as important as the results.
