Food Safety Intern

Nestle Nutrition in Fremont, MI is a Product Development Center for Baby Meals, Drinks and Snack Foods. The opportunity has arisen for a Food Safety Intern to join our team!
The Food Safety intern will work on a project studying chemical contaminants in organic agricultural products under the supervision of scientists in the Quality Management/Food Safety Department. He or she will also have the opportunity to be involved in other areas of quality and food safety such as assisting with analyses in the microbiology and analytical chemistry laboratories.
Length of Internship and Hours: Winter/Spring internship (January to June 2018)
Full-time 40 hrs/week with some overtime
Will interact with Nestle Nutrition employees in Quality, Product Development and Procurement to manage chemical contaminant data for organic ingredients and create an excel database and analyze data. May also assist scientists with other Food Safety and Quality related projects that include bench scale experiments and laboratory analyses. The intern will meet regularly with mentors for direction and to provide periodic project updates and prepare a final project presentation to R&D.

Required: Working towards a BS or MS Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or related technical field.
EXPERIENCE: Laboratory experience and data handling of test results is highly desirable.

Ability to prioritize
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
