Production Team Leader (Off Shift)

Description

Our factory in Crete, NE is one of the largest wet pet food manufacturing facilities in the U.S. as a mass producer of over three million cans of wet pet food per day, which include our Alpo®, Purina ONE®, Pro Plan®, Friskies® and Purina Veterinary Diets® brands. With the city of Lincoln just 25 miles from the plant, many of our associates find convenience in larger-city living in Lincoln and embrace the short commute to the quainter city of Crete.

As the Production Team Leader on second shift, your role in the bigger picture is to lead and facilitate the packing team to achieve all goals related to safety, quality, performance and cost, while maintaining positive employee relations and morale. You will ensure safe behaviors by all associates while maintaining excellences in quality and food safety. This vital role will lead their team in continuous improvement through our Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) tools to maximize asset intensity and minimize costs.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Insure a safe working environment.  
  • Maintain sanitation levels to meet or exceed company and government standards.  
  • Maintain company product and quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily shift activities to meet key objectives.  
  • Train and develop hourly and team lead personnel to maximize their potential to meet current and future objectives.  
  • Coordinate with other Team Leaders within the department to assure consistency in execution of all policies and guidelines.   
  • Facilitate monthly team meetings (safety related and general communications) and encourage an open door policy as a means of resolving issues.
  • Manage all employee performance issues, to include the issuing of discipline for all shift employees.  
  • Maintain employee records for time, attendance, training and grievances.
  • Support Continuous Improvement and encourage employee involvement and decision making by removing barriers for teams.
  • Verify and approve Kronos print outs and other requests as necessary.
  • Actively participate in all Nestle Purina Programs and Initiatives including but not limited to NCE, FIT, Globe, NQMS, NGMP, Compliance, etc
  • Accountable to see that all applicable governmental legislated requirements, such as those from the EPA, FDA, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, OSHA, etc. are adhered to in area of supervision.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 
High school diploma/ GED 
1+ year maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, automotive, military or related environment and 2+ years experience supervising and leading people in a related field

Asset (Skills): 
Experience working in a union environment
