NQAC’s world-class microbiological and food chemistry laboratories provide comprehensive testing services to all Nestlé factories, suppliers, and co-manufacturers in North America to ensure this quality assurance and product safety mission is continuously reached.
This Chemist position is responsible for leading and executing a variety of standard chemical assays and determinations of different substances and materials, requiring the understanding of diverse principles and techniques; the undertaking of infrequently performed and specialized analyses, either individually or as a part of a group; the modifying of methods to resolve problems related to routine determinations; and the preparation and assurnace of accuracy of standards.
The Chemist may undertake advanced analytical work with a minimum of preliminary instruction; modify methods for nonroutine problems; assist with method development; coordinate the work of a small group within the section as necessary.
Analytical • Perform basic to sophisticated procedures and analyses as required. • May interpret, analyze, and approve analytical data. • Plan, organize, and write reports. • Serve as an in-house consultant on projects or in areas of expertise. • Carry out assignments in a timely, diligent, and safe manner and perform work in accordance with NQAC SOPs. • Can work independently with the following technologies (i.e. troubleshooting and analysis of): LC-MS/MS, HPLC
Quality Assurance • Assure quality of results, by establishing and maintaining QA plan and ICPs. • Provide accurate and precise data consistent with internal QA requirements. • Assure equipment is maintained in reliable working order, and make repairs within the capability of the analyst. • Represent NQAC at internal and external meetings as directed.
Methods • Write, review and provide proper documentation for methods. • Modify methods to resolve problems requiring knowledge of theory and underlying principles of the analysis. • Contribute to studies to develop new methods and techniques pertinent to the analysis of foods. • Make recommendations for new equipment and methodology.
Training • Provide training for methods and procedures used within group. • Attend internal and external training programs to develop professionally. • Maintain awareness of current publications relating to work area and conduct literature searches as required
REQUIREMENTS / MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
BS degree in Chemistry or closely-related science discipline required.
Direct experience with LC-MS/MS technology/instrumentation (i.e. troubleshooting, data analysis) required.
• 3-5 years of closely related LC-MS/MS and HPLC experience in related food/dietary laboratory environment preferred; minimally applied general experience with LC-MS/MS and HPLC from another field/environment other than food/dietary quality testing laboratory required.
• Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time • Excellent detail orientation • Good communication skills, verbal and written
