We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to be located in Stamford, CT and report to the Tax Director.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Accountability for all tax matters related to sales and use taxes, VAT, and property taxes.
- Oversee the indirect tax compliance co-outsourcing engagements.
- Oversee and review monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns including sales tax, gross receipts, and property taxes in multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage reconciliation and/or review of tax accounts on a monthly or quarterly basis.
- Manage state and local indirect tax audits.
- Review of state and local business registrations (as needed).
- Identify opportunities for refunds of prior taxes and work to minimize future overpayments.
- Apply value-added strategies to property tax compliance activities, including data analysis and tax law application.
- Secure relevant property tax exemptions.
- Identify and develop property tax planning opportunities.
- Establish indirect tax policies and procedures along with clear roles and responsibilities across tax group, and business partners.
- Partner with IS/IT group to define indirect tax specifications and interfaces with company ERP systems; responsible for maintaining, documenting, and supporting indirect tax systems required to ensure proper compliance with tax rules.
- Research tax laws and regulations and communicate analysis of risks and opportunities via technical memorandums.
Key qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in tax or accounting preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in both industry and tax consultancy positions working in indirect tax management, implementing and using automated indirect tax systems and practices.
- Extraordinary oral and written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse groups.
- Dedicated to deployment of process improvement to mitigate risk and add value.
- Proven experience with Vertex tax engine software implementation and maintenance as well as ERP systems
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter with ability to engage in, prioritize, and perform multiple ongoing tasks.
