POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the Marketing & Other General Expenses (“MOGE”) lines of Nestlé USA’s P&L. The person in this role conducts timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting to assist in the financial decision making within the organization. This role continually develops financial and technical skills and interacts with cross-functional teams at all levels throughout the organization. This role provides analysis to assigned business units/leaders to ensure financial data, including budgets and forecasts, are available to support business decisions. A person in this role exercises good judgment, stays focused on results and ensures the integrity of financial reporting in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
This position is the “single point of contact” for MOGE cost center management to their assigned business units/leaders. It is responsible to consult with business leaders to define financial reporting/analysis needs, gather data, conduct research and prepare analysis and reports as appropriate to fulfill the business need. It is responsible for completing all budget activities, including coordinating the annual budget development and monthly dynamic forecast projections. This position will perform the monthly closing activities in compliance with the Period End Close (PEC) process. It is also responsible for preparing the monthly cost center reporting packages for management, quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and other applicable reporting schedules.
In addition, this position will support in the modernization of MOGE and alignment with the Future of Finance roadmap including the upgrade of Cost Center Planning and Reporting tools, simplification of processes, and greater focus on white collar optimization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform cost center management activities to include:
- Determine annual budget assumptions & targets
- Create, populate and receive approval on budget submission
- Consult with business leaders at all levels to define cost center needs
- Prepare dynamic forecast projections and submissions
- Analyze and communicate cost center allocations to divisions and other operating companies
- Perform Period End Close activities including:
- Conduct variance analysis (actuals vs budget and vs forecast) and prepare variance explanations
- Post accruals and reclass J/E
- Prepare monthly reporting packages
- Conduct validation & reconciliation of Payroll, T&E and other MOGE related expenses
- Strategic project work, when applicable
QUALIFICATIONS
BASIC/ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA, MBA
- Food or consumer goods industry experience
STRONGLY PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Hands-on knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (US GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- General knowledge of the principles of cost accounting and activity-based costing
- Financial modeling skills
- Ability to perform variance analyses between actual costs and budgeted/planned costs
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Nestlé Accounting Standards (NAS) – for internal candidates
