Job summary:
Responsible for managing day-to-day sensory panel activities, including planning and executing sensory tests with excellence, and delivering high quality sensory data to guide recipe, package and process development.
Job responsibilities:
•Screen, recruit and validate new panelists.
•Build and manage descriptive sensory glossaries including precise tasting procedures and sensory references.
•Train sensory panelists and monitor performance to achieve high panel performance. Provide feedback to panelists.
•Administer internal and external sensory panels – plan, schedule and coordinate all aspects of panel work in collaboration with appropriate cross functional team members.
•Work with Sensory Technician to order products, samples and references, ensuring proper collection and storage.
•Create test ballots in sensory software.
•Organize data, run statistical analyses and document results.
•Manage shelf-life studies.
•Assist Consumer Sensory Insight Specialists with:
•sensory method development and test design
•data analysis and reporting
•setting up consumer-centric sensory specifications in factories.
•Continuously seek and propose process / practices improvements.
•Build and share knowledge through internal sensory trainings
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
•Bachelor’s degree in Sensory Science, Food Technology, Food Science or other related field,
•Experience in panel moderating or facilitation. Experience in sensory evaluation or equivalent.
•Strong computer skills: MS-Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook). Sensory data collection / statistical software (e.g. EyeQuestion, XLSTAT, SAS) is a plus.
•Strong statistical knowledge
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Strong organizational and record keeping skills
•Able to work well in a team environment
•Good interpersonal skills and a sense of business/technical interrelationships
