Position Summary: • Law students/clerks will have opportunities to work closely with lawyers, legal professionals and/or business stakeholders in a global health and nutrition company, while NHSc benefits from the unique viewpoint these students or recent graduates bring. • The internship/clerk program offers an exceptional opportunity to gain experience and exposure across a broad range of practice areas supporting our health, nutrition, and pharmaceutical products. The student or clerk participate in projects and assignments, that support professional development, while helping patients, customers, and advancing lives.
Key Responsibilities: • Work closely with members of NHSc’s legal team to enable NHSc’s present and future success in a constantly evolving and growing legal department; • Assist in-house counsel and legal professionals in the review and preparation of legal documents; and • Assist with various projects in legal areas involving regulatory, compliance, contracts, due diligence, and risk assessment.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated academic achievement and will have distinguished themselves within their law schools and communities. While we evaluate each candidate individually, we strongly prefer candidates with the following qualifications.
Experience and Education Requirements: • Law school student in an accredited law school, pursuing a Juris Doctor degree and in law school or having recently graduated at the time of application; or • Masters degree (LLM) and related work experience or law school courses may be considered. • Paralegal certificate is a plus.
Preferred Skills: • Experience working at a law firm or in house or in healthcare or in pharmaceuticals or experience working with compliance-related policies and regulations • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively • Excellent interpersonal skills • Computer literacy required, including experience using Microsoft office programs such as Powerpoint • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage competing priorities • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills • Ability to work in a team environment • Self-starter, needs minimum oversight to complete tasks • Strong attention to detail, and ability to analyze data for errors and omissions • Strong project management skills • Experience using multiple types of electronic systems and databases • Committed to working in an environment that values diversity and a willingness to learn and bring new perspectives and ideas to the workplace; and • Ethical and sound judgment.
