JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for organizing and performing laboratory tasks and reporting results from assorted laboratory procedures and assays under minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Perform basic chemical and biological laboratory assays as required to support product development, and health care of our pets. 2. Perform all necessary cleaning (e.g. glassware) 3. Maintain accurate records/log of analytical requests and data 4. Ensure proper function of and perform routine/minor maintenance on laboratory equipment 5. Effectively communicate results through written technical documentation 6. Prepare samples for shipping to external laboratories 7. Innovate new ways of working or create best practice for old procedures 8. Communicate with Project Scientists through status updates, emails and project notes, as needed 9. Follow & review SOP’s and Technical Lab Instructions
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge): • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry or related field • Introductory knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and GLP • Good teamwork, interpersonal, communication, organization, math and writing skills • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: • Training/classes in molecular biology, Immunology
