The Purina Institute is a new global communication function that is the ‘voice of Purina science’, representing over 500 scientists dedicated to changing lives of dogs and cats through superior nutrition. We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual to join us as the Director of Publications, to lead our team of experienced and passionate scientific writers. We are looking for a scientist who has a proven track record of managing communication teams, developing content for both medical and consumer audiences.

Lead, manage and develop a team of experienced scientific writers, responsible for producing engaging narratives for professionals and consumers based on sound scientific research Build a comprehensive and multi-year editorial calendar to support the Purina Institute brand plans. Working closely with the Directors of Communications and Scientific Programs & Events, define & implement the Brand Plans Partner with internal and external subject matter experts and scientists to lead the publication strategy for key tactics including congress abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts. Represent the Purina Institute as a technical expert and provide strong editorial and additional writing capacity and competencies when required.
We are looking for a scientist (advanced level degree) or veterinarian, ideally with a strong nutrition background, who has experience of working in industry (pet food, veterinary pharmaceutical or human food) or at a communications/consulting agency. Strong track record in communications including digital, with 10+ years experience – marketing, copywriting or journalism Proven success in managing and developing communication teams, managing multi-projects, collaborating and working successfully with multiple stakeholders and across multi-functional teams. Experience of communicating scientific information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences including publishing in peer reviewed journals and /or scientific conferences.
