The Purina Institute is a new global communication function that is the ‘voice of Purina science’, representing over 500 scientists dedicated to changing lives of cats and dogs through superior nutrition.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated professional with strong writing, editing and proofing skills with a background in pet food, human nutrition or veterinary healthcare. This role will be responsible for producing engaging narratives for professionals and consumers based on research, interviews and historical company data. • Create and edit well-written professional-facing and consumer-facing content for print, digital and traditional media • Edit existing copy when needed and ensure readability, accuracy, and adherence to best practices • Collaborate with the marketing team to help create overall content • Fact-check materials to verify accuracy of information, data, and claims • Maintain style guide and brand standards across all published pieces • Communicate across teams to deliver quality projects on time • Contribute ideas that strengthen our editorial process and improve on the accuracy and efficiency of our high-volume communications calendar
• Veterinarian or advanced nutrition or science degree with 5+ years of communications experience in pet food industry, human healthcare, biotech, or science-based industry. • Proven experience in designing and developing professional and/or consumer-oriented content with impactful narratives • Strong visual skills and attention to detail; creative design aesthetic • Effectively translate and communicate highly scientific concepts into easily understood narratives • Familiarity with formal methodologies for story design eg message house • Demonstrated experience in writing original science-based, research-driven health content • 3-5 years writing and editing experience, including creating website and marketing materials including brochures, flyers, website copy, blog copy, etc. • Ability to meet timelines without compromising document quality • Must have the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with limited to little supervision • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a team environment consisting of internal and external team members • Superior command of the English language, not limited to spelling, grammar, and usage
