How Teams Work Better—Together

At Nestlé USA, meaningful progress doesn’t come from working in isolation. It happens when teams come together, share perspectives, and build something stronger as a collective. When people step beyond their own lanes and think end to end, the impact reaches far beyond a single project.

Here’s how one team brought that to life.

Reimagining the Onboarding Experience

The project

A cross-functional team came together to redesign onboarding—transforming it from a one-time orientation into a connected, end-to-end experience that supports employees from offer acceptance through their first days and beyond.

At the center of this effort was the creation of an onboarding console, designed to bring visibility and alignment across the entire journey.

The opportunity

Early conversations revealed something important: onboarding challenges weren’t isolated to one moment—they existed across the entire experience.

Different teams were managing their parts independently, and while each piece worked on its own, there wasn’t always a clear connection between them. That created friction for new employees and made it harder to deliver a seamless experience.

The opportunity was to step back, look at the full picture, and answer a bigger question: how could all these moving parts come together to better support employees from day one?

How the team showed up

Instead of solving pieces of the problem separately, the team brought people together from across HR, IT, and other functions to map the entire onboarding experience.

They:

  • Created shared visibility into how each step connected
  • Opened the floor for different teams to share perspectives and challenges
  • Identified friction points together instead of in isolation
  • Co-created solutions that worked across the full journey

What made the difference wasn’t just alignment—it was the shift in how people worked together. Teams that had previously operated independently began to see how their work impacted one another and the employee experience as a whole.

There was a strong sense of shared ownership. Every team understood that their role, no matter how big or small, contributed to the overall experience—and that success depended on working together, not separately.

The impact

The work led to a meaningful shift in how onboarding is experienced across the organization.

  • Onboarding evolved from a series of tasks into a connected system designed to support employee success
  • Teams became more aligned, improving how they work together beyond onboarding
  • New employees benefited from a more seamless, supported experience from day one

Just as important, the process strengthened relationships across teams—creating a more connected way of working that extends into other areas of the business.

What They Learned

Through this experience, the team saw firsthand what’s possible when people zoom out and work as part of something bigger.

They learned that:

  • The best solutions come from bringing different perspectives into the same conversation
  • Strong outcomes depend on understanding how work connects across teams
  • Real progress happens when teams share ownership and build together

Perhaps most importantly, they reinforced a simple truth: when teams move beyond individual priorities and focus on the bigger picture, they create experiences that are stronger, more connected, and built to last.

Building Better, Together

Every team at Nestlé has the chance to shape how we work—by opening the door to new perspectives, connecting the dots, and building solutions side by side.

Because when teams come together with a shared goal, the work doesn’t just improve—it transforms.
