Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst to be located in Stamford, CT, or New York, NY, and report to the Senior Manager of Data and Insights. The primary responsibility of the Business Intelligence, Technical Data Analyst is all within a diverse set of applications (custom as well as packaged). The Business Intelligence, Technical Data Analyst   will also work closely with the senior technology leadership team in designing and developing a comprehensive data management strategy for NWNA. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, have strong business acumen, and be able to work closely with our technology teams and business users in all phases of the software development lifecycle. A strong understanding of SDLC is recommended, and superior documentation skills are required.
Position Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Participate in the documentation and modeling of the data architecture
  • Work with other members of the technology team to identify dependencies and coordinate deliverables
  • Support project / initiative teams with required data, analysis and insights to ensure informed decisions are made
  • Participate on cross-functional business teams to execute on key business strategies and initiatives
  • Communicate non-financial insights in a timely and effective manner
  • Take part in defining business needs and translating them into direction provided to the IT team for appropriate solution development
  • Drive, plan and analyze research strategies for business unit
  • Be the knowledge expert on the data stored in the databases
  • Develop highly efficient stored procedures and database functions
  • Develop scalable, reliable, and automated data import, update and export processes
  • Unit test code, and create and execute approved test plans for modules
  • Investigate, identify root cause, and solve system defects
  • Work with internal bug tracking and project management tools
  • Adhere to project and release timelines
  • Interact with customers/users to support software acceptance process and act as a liaison between development, user community, and external technology team
  • Investigate and report problems
  • Designing, documenting, developing and maintaining data management and reporting scripts
    Working directly with users in support of reports and metrics across the organization
  • Recommending and supporting policies and procedures for maintenance of databases
  • Providing guidance for the development, maintenance and performance of scalable systems
  • Supporting both iterative and traditional software development, unit and integration testing

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:
  • 5+ years experience working with SQL Server 2008/2014/2016  
  • Experience developing SQL Server Integration Services
  • Proven capabilities providing database base programming support and troubleshooting to multiple IT projects
  • Experience  with SQL programming
  • Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized and have exceptional writing and communicating skills
  • Exposure to  the data warehouse schema using Kimball methodology
  • Demonstrated a record of developing successful applications that are highly integrated and reliable
  • Ability to operate effectively, and with a sense of possibility, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to create and develop Power BI Dashboards
  • Experience in OLAP Cubes in SSAS
  • Digital and/or Direct-to-consumer experience preferred
  • Communicates message clearly and flexes style based upon the needs of the audience
  • Maintains ability to work under tight timelines, reconciling across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Retains sense of accountability and ownership to deliver projects on-time, on-scope, and on-budget
  • Possesses ability to be forward-thinking
