Annually, we mass manufacture 270,000 tons of dry pet food from our Dog Chow®, Beneful®, Nestlé Purina ONE®, Alpo® and Pro Plan® brands – and we’re doing it all underneath 70,000 square feet of solar panels to draw nearly 12 million kilowatt hours of clean emission-free solar electricity.
As the Materials Manager you will oversee the storage and shipping of ingredients and packaging materials. You will work closely with Production, Operations Planning, and Transportation departments to ensure the factory has the appropriate ingredient inventory to maintain effective production while maximizing inventory turnover. The Materials Manager directly manages a team of three that sources ingredients and coordinates delivery schedules.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the plant has adequate inventories to meet the production schedule
- Maintain supplier and carrier relationships
- Manage inbound freight organization and budget, including demurrage via rail
- Source carriers to haul freight and negotiate contracts
- Manage storage inventory, payments, receipts, and communication
- Review current price reports, inbound freight bills, and additional charges
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related field
Experience (Years/Type):
- 3+ years of experience with materials buying or transportation in manufacturing, warehouse, military or related environment
